Weddings in Hampton Roads are usually gorgeous but nothing is more stunning than a beautiful, beach wedding with an adorable couple. It’s even better when you get to be IN said gorgeous wedding. This particular couple holds a super special place in our hearts because they are close friends with the Hildebrandt family. So when Zach and Shannon asked us to plan their big day, we were absolutely honored!
Zach and Sannon met in high school and remained sweethearts through college graduations and beyond:) They are what you envision your perfect match being and really bring out the best in one another.
This couple decided to have their wedding and reception at Shifting Sands, a beach club on the Navy Base here in Virginia Beach. Above, you’ll see one of our FAVORITE invitation shots ever. This shot not only incorporates the invite and RSVP cards but the couples rings, a simple yet elegant rose boutonniere, and Shannon’s veil all resting on top of a glittery bridesmaids’ dress.
Traditions are always a fun way to add a little something to your wedding day. Giving little gifts to your soon-to-be spouse on your wedding day are great little reminders that amidst all the hustle and bustle of the wedding, THEY are the one who truly matters. Here’s Shannon opening up a little token of Zach’s love – as well as reflecting a personal inside joke 🙂
As much as we love giggling brides, we can never get enough of an emotional groom. There’s something so beautiful about a man who’s excited to share this special day with the love of his life. These tears of complete joy and elation can always bring a smile to our face. I mean…how sweet is this?! A picture is worth a thousand words…and luckily, Corrin was there to capture this memory!
Beach weddings don’t always have to be casual. Don’t get us wrong, a relaxed wedding is fantastic but don’t feel like you have to give up a certain look just based on your wedding venue. You’ll see these dapper groomsmen strutting their stuff in brown shoes and awesome slate blue tuxedos. How handsome!
Could we have asked for a more gorgeous bride?! Shannon is RADIANT both inside and out.
Alright, we told you we’d get to these bridesmaid dresses. If you’re trying to find the perfect bridesmaid dresses for your wedding, take a look at Leading Ladies LA for some great examples of what your bridesmaids could look like on the big day. I mean, we were sold as soon as we heard gold and sparkles. This is another perfect example of how a beach wedding can still be as glam as you want it to be! These slinky, high-necked gowns paired with white rose bouquets are all kinds of perfect. Neutral glam is totally in right now. (If you look closely, you might even be able to spot a familiar, wedding planner.)
The bridesmaids dresses were the perfect accent to Shannon’s lace bridal gown. The sweetheart neckline with eyelash-lace trim is a timeless, classic that will never go out of style. I think it’s safe to say we’re obsessed with the look of this entire bridal party.
Sometimes less is more so when you opt for a showy bridal party, take a note from Shannon’s wedding and keep it simple with accessories and flowers. It will accent the wedding party wonderfully without distracting from other focal points. Even still, these southern style rose and hydrangea bouquets are beautiful!
Being excited for Zach and Shannon was super easy. They’re one of the sweetest couples you’ll ever meet and, again, I was so proud to be a part of their day!
They’re like a real life Ken and Barbie. (P.S. We’re totally loving that side braid!)

First kisses, warm lighting, and an open dance floor…sounds like the start to a BLAST of a reception.
Reception traditions like the bouquet toss and garter toss are always a crowd pleaser. It’s even more fun when you have fiesty guests who get in on the action. And speaking of action….
We love this extra special garter toss. Sweet moves, Zach. 😉
How does your train always look so perfect, Shannon?! The glow stick send off was a huge hit. The couple and guests alike loved having a gorgeous, glowy send off.
Zach and Shannon, we loved witnessing your union to each other and are so grateful you allowed us to be a part of your day; not only with the planning but letting us be in your bridal party as well. We hope God blesses your marriage with a lifetime of happiness. Thank you for being such wonderful friends and here’s to your happily ever after!
