These love birds are getting married in November at the Signature at West Neck & are sharing their love story along with some advice of their own!
Let’s start with an easy one first, how did you lovebirds meet?
Zach and I met in college! We had both just transferred to Old Dominion University; I was a Sophomore and he was a Junior. The first time we met was actually at a party and I was extremely irritated that I was there and I was in no mood to talk to anyone, but sure enough he tried and I was absolutely not into it at all. It just so happened that one of his fraternity brothers was close with my roommate so they showed to up to hang out at my apartment one night. He asked me out that night and thinking he was going to forget, I gave him extremely specific instructions for when to text me. Turns out, he set an alarm so that he would remember! So I decided to go out with him and it turned out to be the best decision of my life. Never would I have thought three years ago that the goofy blue eyed guy who asked me to slow dance to an old country song in my living room would end up becoming my best friend and soon to be husband!
Tell us a little something about you guys that others may not know.
Caitlin- Anyone who looks at him will jump to the conclusion that he’s super serious and stern. However, he is the silliest person that I have ever met. He always knows how to make me laugh even after a bad day! Zach- When you first meet Caitlin she comes across very laid back and fun-loving, while both are true, she is also one of the most determined and driven individuals I have ever met. Whenever she puts her mind to something she is going to succeed.
What has surprised you most in planning a wedding?
This wedding is going to be the first wedding in my family since the 1960s so I came into wedding planning with the knowledge my Grandmother had about weddings. Everything is so much more detail oriented than I expected!
What has been the biggest challenge along the way?
For us, it’s definitely the fact that Zach is in the process of joining the Military. At the moment, everything is a little bit more complicated because dates can’t be official yet in case there is a change to his schedule. Luckily, with Hannah’s help we were able to find a venue that is willing to be flexible with date changes!
Do you have any advice to offer current brides?
As a couple, don’t forget to continue loving each other during this process. If you feel like you can’t handle it, ask for help! Whether it be your mom, maid of honor, or wedding planner. Take a deep breath, relax, and don’t stress too much! Everything will work out in the end 🙂
